I am so glad and excited to attend ERC in China held on April 29, 2009. It’s the first time I attend ERC, and it is so wonderful and unforgettable for me. I am from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, for my research field is virtualization, I am responsible for xVM booth which is a very cool virtualization solution.

The demo showed in the xVM booth is developed by Rita Zhang, which is an education solution by using virtualization technology based on KVM. There are six virtual machines running on a server, which are two Solaris, two Linux, and two Windows XP, and the host OS is Ubuntu Linux. We can selectively start any of these six VMs for our own purpuses, for example, we can run java applications in a Solaris VM, and do other education jobs in a Linux VM or Windows XP, however no conflict exists.

Teachers from many universities show great interest in the xVM booth, because such OS virtualization can bring a lot of advantages for universities and enterprises, such like cost reduction, high security, more convenience, etc.
In the field of OS virtualization, there are already a lot of excellent products such like Xen, KVM, Xen Server. With the release of xVM Server, we can have a more excellent choice for the virtualization solution. Let’s look forward to it.
